Pennsylvania Summer State Grant

The Summer State Grant program allows eligible students attending summer courses to receive a State Grant award for the summer term.

Eligibility Requirements

Summer Grant eligibility requirements are the same as the State Grant program. To qualify, you must:

Please note: By law, students are limited to the equivalent of four academic year State Grant awards unless enrolled in a bona-fide five year program. A Summer Grant is included in the maximum number of payments for which a student may be eligible. Be sure to talk to your financial aid administrator if you have questions.

How to Apply

Submit the online Summer State Grant application by August 15. Although you may still apply after August 15th, your application will be considered late and may not be approved unless you are attending an approved business, trade, or technical school.

Do I have to fill out the FAFSA?

If you have... Then...

Not completed the FAFSA between January 1, 2007 and now,

Yes, you will need to fill out the FAFSA before we can process your Summer State Grant application.

Complete the FAFSA online at FAFSA on the Web. Exterior Link

Completed the FAFSA anytime after January 1, 2007,

No, you do not need to complete the FAFSA again to apply for the Summer State Grant.

After You Apply

We review your application for eligibility based on the information in your State Grant Record. Then, beginning in June, we email instructions for viewing your Summer Grant application status in Account Access.

To check your Summer Grant application status:

  1. Sign in to Account Access
  2. Go to "Applications & Status"
  3. Select the "PA State Grant Status" link
