SciTech Scholarship

How Can I Maintain Eligibility?

To maintain eligibility, you must still meet the obligations that you agreed to when you received your SciTech Scholarship. Upon accepting NETS funds, you agreed to:

  • Maintain Pennsylvania residency
  • Be considered at least a sophomore
  • Maintain full-time enrollment in an approved science, technology, or allied health program (PDF) at an approved NETS school in Pennsylvania
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for applicants transferring into a SciTech NETS program; maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) throughout school (to be verified annually by your Financial Aid Office at the end of every spring term)
  • Complete an internship or work experience (credit or noncredit) with a Pennsylvania company before you receive your degree (to be verified by your Financial Aid Office)

  • Complete an approved NETS program of study
  • After you complete the program of study, begin work within 1 year that is:
    • In a field related to an approved NETS program of study (PDF)
    • For an employer where your base of operations is located in Pennsylvania
    • Full time (as defined by the employer, whether with or without benefits) for:
      • 12 Months—For each full-time academic year (2 semesters or 3 quarters) award
      • 6 Months—For each full-time semester award
      • 4 Months—For each full-time quarter award (prorated for a part-time award)
  • Submit a NETS Employment Verification Form (PDF) every 6 months to verify employment

NOTE: If you begin full-time continued study within 1 year of completing an approved NETS program of study, you may request a deferment of the NETS work obligation (PDF). You can extend this deferment—which requires verification every 6 months—up to 6 years as long as you remain enrolled in school full time.

How Much Can I Continue to Receive?

The SciTech Scholarship awards up to $3,000 per year. Your award amount is based on total educational costs (tuition and mandatory fees, room and board, books).

You can receive this scholarship for a maximum of 3 years, unless you are in an approved 5-year degree program.
