Representative William F. Adolph, Jr. and Senator Wayne D. Fontana Re-Elected to PHEAA Board Leadership
Harrisburg, PA (February 21, 2013)—The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) announced today that Representative William F. Adolph, Jr. has been re-elected to chair the PHEAA Board of Directors. Senator Wayne D. Fontana has been re-elected as vice chairman of the PHEAA Board.
Representative Adolph has represented Delaware County's 165th Legislative District since 1989. He serves as the majority Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee and as a member of the House Rules Committee. He has served as Chairman of the PHEAA board since 2007.
"It's an honor to serve Pennsylvania students and families as Chairman of the PHEAA Board - especially considering the many challenges that families must deal with when planning for a higher education", said Representative William Adolph, PHEAA Board Chairman. "The collective education, finance and business experience that is brought to the table by my colleagues on this Board will help us address those issues successfully on behalf of the Commonwealth."
PHEAA was created in 1963 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and has since evolved into one of the nation's leading student aid organizations. The agency's earnings are used to support its public service mission and to pay its operating costs, including administration of the Pennsylvania State Grant and other student aid programs.
"Knowing that the decisions we make on PHEAA's Board of Directors can positively affect the lives of so many Pennsylvania students and their families is extremely rewarding," said Senator Wayne D. Fontana. "I look forward to working with Chairman Adolph and my colleagues on the Board as we continue to identify new ways to improve access to higher education in Pennsylvania."
