Special Update for 2009-10 Pennsylvania State Grant Applicants
The 2009-10 budget for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was signed into law by Governor Rendell on October 9, 2009. Now that PHEAA knows how much money is available, State Grant awards can be finalized.

- What is my State Grant eligibility now that the budget has passed?

State Grant awards for eligible students are being finalized based on the funds available. You can sign in to Account Access to see your State Grant eligibility for 2009-10. This information will be available beginning on October 16.
- If I am eligible for a State Grant award, when will I get my money?

Your school must first confirm your eligibility for a State Grant award. The funds for fall 2009 State Grant awards are then sent to your school which will in turn pay the award to your student account. This process may take up to four weeks depending upon when the funds are received from the Pennsylvania Department of Treasury.
- Will my spring award for 2010 also be delayed?

No, now that the budget has been passed the funds for the State Grant program are available to cover both fall and spring awards.
- I received an award for summer school. Will those funds be delayed as well?

No, funds for summer programs are paid with appropriations from the prior year so enough money was set aside to cover these awards.
Reminder: If you will be returning to school during the 2010-11 academic year, be sure to file your 2010-11 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1, 2010 in order to meet the State Grant filing deadline date.
