Because financial and family circumstances can change from year to year, you must update the information on your original FAFSA each time you file. Doing this online saves time because the FAFSA will already include prefilled answers from your original application, and you need to enter only the information that has changed.

How to Renew Your FAFSA Online

1. Follow our tips to prepare to complete the FAFSA.
2. Make sure you have your Federal Student Aid PIN.
   • If you cannot remember your PIN, request a duplicate PIN.
3. Fill out the FAFSA for the year you want to file; use your PIN to prefill the FAFSA with your original responses.
