FAFSA Completion Sessions FAQ
What is a FAFSA Completion Session?
FAFSA Completion Sessions are events that invite college-bound students and their parent (or guardian) to a location near them to receive free assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is required by colleges, universities and private career schools to qualify for scholarships, grants and loans.
When and where are FAFSA Completion Sessions?
The FAFSA Completion Sessions take place annually at numerous sites across the state. PHEAA sponsors FAFSA Completion Help Sessions from January through April. Contact the Regional Office that serves your county for more details on FAFSA sessions.
Who should attend FAFSA Completion Sessions?
All college-bound students and their parents (or guardians) are invited to receive free help. Our primary goal is to make sure that the first step to financial aid is completed accurately so funds can be made available to those striving for a higher education.
If students are 23 years or younger, they should attend with a parent or guardian. If possible, parents and students should bring their completed IRS 1040 tax return, W-2 form or other income or benefits information.
Why are FAFSA Completion Events important?
Through these events we hope to continue helping thousands of residents to cross the barrier and qualify for financial aid. The more students who fill out the FAFSA correctly, the more who will receive needed funds to attend an institution of higher education.
Who is funding this program?
FAFSA Completion Sessions are sponsored by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) in conjunction with Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (PASFAA) and various community organizations.
