Adolph Re-Elected to Chair PHEAA Board
Representative Adolph continues to serve Pennsylvania's Students and Families
Harrisburg, PA (February 14, 2008) - PHEAA announced today that Representative William F. Adolph, Jr. has been re-elected to serve as the Chairman of the PHEAA Board of Directors for the second consecutive year.
Representative Adolph has represented Delaware County's 165th Legislative District since 1989. He chairs the House Professional Licensure Committee and serves on the Consumer Affairs Committee. He was first appointed to the PHEAA Board in 2001 and served on the Executive Committee of PHEAA's Board from 2003 through 2006.
"Affordable access to higher education empowers Pennsylvania's students to achieve their dreams and a lifetime of success," said Adolph. "I look forward to serving another term, working with our other dedicated Board members, to strengthen the Commonwealth through our students."
Under Adolph's leadership, PHEAA has undergone an intensive period of reform and refocus. As an accountable state agency that is funded by its own earnings, PHEAA is dedicated to serving the students and families of Pennsylvania. PHEAA is now operating under the most strict travel and business expense reimbursement policy of any organization in the Commonwealth. All business development "retreats" have been banned and America's first voluntary Student Loan Code of Ethics was created and adopted by the organization. PHEAA also continues to undergo an aggressive cost-cutting campaign, eliminating every nonessential expenditure, thus far saving nearly $50 million.
"This pivotal time in PHEAA's history has been difficult," remarked Adolph. "Moving forward we expect to face even greater challenges as serious disruptions in the national capital markets combined with new federal legislation puts growing stress on America's student aid community - - and ultimately the Pennsylvania families we serve."
The PHEAA Board of Directors also re-elected Senator Sean Logan (D-Monroeville) as Vice Chairman of the Board.
Members elected to serve on the Executive Committee are:
- Senator Robert M. Tomlinson (R-Bensalem) will serve as Chairman of the Executive Committee.
- Representative James R. Roebuck, Jr. (D-Philadelphia) will serve as Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee.
- Representative Sandra J. Major (R-Montrose)
- Honorable J. Doyle Corman (Bellefonte)
- Senator Vincent J. Hughes (D-Philadelphia)
- Honorable Roy Reinard (Holland)
